Parking Lot Striping Cost
In 2026, restriping a lot costs $5-$10 per stall and a new layout $10-$20, plus symbols, arrows and a trip charge. Here is the whole price, by stall, by foot and by lot size, with an estimator you can set to your rates.

Restripe over existing lines
The common job. Lines are there to follow; the crew paints, no layout.
$5-$10 per stall
New layout
Fresh asphalt or a changed plan. Chalked and measured first, so 20-50% above a restripe.
$10-$20 per stall
Line work by the foot
Most 4-inch waterborne line is $0.20-$0.50. Wider lines, curbs and thermoplastic push it up.
$0.20-$1.00 per lin ft
Mobilization
One trip, one setup. Spread over 200 stalls it vanishes; on 20 it is half the bid.
$150-$350
Symbols, arrows and the rest
Whole-Lot Prices by Size
A restripe, symbols included, one crew. The per-stall rate falls as the lot grows because the trip and setup do not.
| Lot | Per stall | Total | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 25-50 stalls$5-$10 per stall | $5-$10 | $400-$1,200 | half a day |
| 50-100 stalls$5-$8 per stall | $5-$8 | $1,000-$3,000 | one day |
| 100-200 stalls$4-$7 per stall | $4-$7 | $3,000-$5,500 | 1-2 days |
| 200+ stalls$3-$6 per stall | $3-$6 | $5,000-$8,000+ | 2-3 days |
New layouts run 20-50% above these. Thermoplastic, curbs and fire lanes are extra everywhere.

The lot
A new layout has no lines to follow, so it is chalked and measured first and bids 20-50% above a restripe. The estimator uses 35%.
Your pricing
Restripes run $5-$10 per stall in 2026, new layouts $10-$20. ADA symbols $40-$100 each, arrows $25-$75, mobilization $150-$350.

An estimate, not a quote. Stall count is the number to get right, and on a lot you have not walked, it is the one you are guessing. Pull the lot up on satellite, count the stalls, and trace the paved area for the sealcoat line of the same bid.
The Layout Math Behind the Price
Per-stall pricing is shorthand for line footage, paint and time. It pays to know the footage underneath it, and the ADA minimum that decides whether the lot is legal when you leave.
A standard stall is 9 feet wide by 18 feet deep. In a row, each stall shares its dividers with its neighbors, so a single-line stall is one 18-foot stripe plus its share of the row's ends: about 20 linear feet. Hairpin (double-line) stalls paint two stripes per divider, nearer 38 feet. Drive-aisle lines, stop bars and fire lane go on top.
At a 15-mil wet film, one gallon of traffic paint lays about 320 linear feet of 4-inch line. A 65-stall lot is 1,300 feet of stall line, four gallons, plus a fifth for arrows and symbols. That is why paint is a small share of the bid and the trip, the layout and the crew hours are the price.
Accessible stalls are 8 feet wide with a 5-foot access aisle, van stalls with an 8-foot aisle, and one in six accessible stalls must be van accessible. The table gives the minimum count; local codes can require more.
ADA minimum by lot size
| Total stalls | Accessible |
|---|---|
| 1-25 | 1 |
| 26-50 | 2 |
| 51-75 | 3 |
| 76-100 | 4 |
| 101-150 | 5 |
| 151-200 | 6 |
| 201-300 | 7 |
| 301-400 | 8 |
| 401-500 | 9 |
| 501-1,000 | 2% of total |

Paint Type Sets the Price and the Callback
Waterborne acrylic is the default on sealcoated lots: cheap, fast to dry, and it matches the two-to-three-year sealcoat cycle. Solvent-based paint buys a few more months in harsh climates. Thermoplastic costs three times as much per gallon and lasts three times as long, which is the right trade on a lot that will not be resealed.
Waterborne acrylic
lasts 12-18 months
$35-$50 / gal
Solvent-based traffic paint
lasts 18-24 months
$50-$75 / gal
Thermoplastic
lasts 3-5 years
$120-$180 / gal

Worked Example: A 65-Stall Restripe
Layout unchanged, three accessible stalls required, six arrows, waterborne paint. The same lot as the sealcoating bid guide, priced here as a standalone striping job.
The bid
$16.23 per stall all in, which is the number to compare against a competitor's "$8 a stall".
What it takes
The other 81% pays for the trip, eight crew hours, the striper and the stencils. Cut the per-stall rate and it comes out of that, not the paint.
Striping Cost Questions
Per stall, per foot, ADA counts, paint and time.
A restripe over existing lines costs $5-$10 per stall in 2026, and a new layout $10-$20. Most contractors add a $150-$350 mobilization charge, so a 40-stall restripe with two ADA symbols lands around $600-$800 all in. Big lots trend to the bottom of the per-stall range because the trip and setup are spread over more spaces.
$0.20-$1.00 per linear foot for a 4-inch line, with straightforward waterborne work at $0.20-$0.50. A standard stall in a row is about 20 linear feet of line, so per-foot and per-stall pricing describe the same job two ways. Bid by the foot when the work is mostly lines, curbs and lanes rather than stalls.
A restripe follows the lines already on the ground. A new layout has to be designed to the code, chalked and measured before a drop of paint goes down, and often needs an ADA review. That is why it runs 20-50% above a restripe, and why a layout design service is its own $200-$500 line on a new lot.
The 2010 ADA Standards set the minimum by lot size: one accessible stall for 1-25 spaces, two for 26-50, three for 51-75, four for 76-100, then roughly one more per 50 spaces up to 500. One in six accessible stalls has to be van accessible, with an 8-foot access aisle. A striping bid that leaves a lot short of the minimum gets done twice, so count it before you price it.
At a standard 15-mil wet film, a gallon of traffic paint covers about 320 linear feet of 4-inch line. A 65-stall lot at 20 feet of line per stall is 1,300 feet, so four gallons plus a fifth for symbols and arrows. Paint is a small share of the price; the trip, the layout and the crew are the cost.
A 25-50 stall restripe is about half a day for a two-person crew, 50-100 stalls a full day, and 100-200 stalls one to two days. Waterborne paint is dry to traffic in 30-60 minutes in warm weather. If the lot was just sealcoated, striping waits until the sealer has cured, usually the next morning.
Pull the address up on satellite imagery. In SurfaceMeasure you can count the stalls, spot the ADA spaces and arrows, and trace the paved area for the sealcoat line of the same bid, all before you drive out. The visit then confirms the layout instead of discovering it.
