How to Calculate Lawn Square Footage
Length times width for each piece of turf, added up, minus what sits inside it. A worked lawn:

Curved beds and kidney-shaped lawns do not fit rectangles; split them into smaller pieces and accept a little error, or trace the real outline on satellite imagery.

Lawn Measuring Questions

Split the turf into rectangles: front, back, each side strip. Multiply each length by its width and add them. Then take out anything inside those rectangles you will not mow, such as a bed, a patio or a shed. The calculator does the adding and subtracting; on satellite imagery, SurfaceMeasure takes up to 100 sections with cutouts.
An acre is 43,560 sq ft, so a quarter acre is 10,890 and a half acre 21,780. Divide the square footage by 43,560 to get acres.
Not for the price. The lot includes the house, the driveway, the patio and the beds, and on a typical residential lot those take a large share. A quote from the lot size prices grass you will never cut and loses to a company that measured the turf.
